And blame the facilitators, too

Every awful thing done because Trump, and his enablers, demands it of you is still an action on your conscience, in your name, and on your soul.

And blame the facilitators, too

More to the point on my last post:

The lawyer defending the administration clearly ignoring judicial orders and deporting people without due-process is an individual making an individual choice.

I don't care why, or the circumstances behind that job activity; this is someone who is choosing to stand up and defend Trump in an obviously-illegal action.

The lawyer standing before the court and obfuscating who was responsible for policy attacking trans service-members is an individual choosing to carry out this action.

I don't care why, I have no interest in their justifications over the fact that they're willing to enable this bigotry.

The lawyer pretending he does not know who's actually in charge of DOGE when we all know who's actually in charge of DOGE is choosing to feign ignorance.

I don't care why. They're either for this bullshit, or they'll grow some scruples and stop participating in it.

Every single individual who has anything to do with any aspect of the operation of ICE is complicit in this. I hold out less hope that they'll realise the fascist, bigoted systems they're gears within, but I don't want a lack of mention to be mistaken for ignorance of their support for the institution of American Gestapo.

Again, I don't care why you're doing it. "I was just following orders" is not, and has never been, justification for abhorrent behaviour.

We have all grown up learning history about the individuals who made the right decision when it mattered most. To the extent those stories are lionised, exaggerated, embellished, or otherwise doesn't matter — their lesson remains the same. People participate in these systems, and people can refuse to allow their energy, time, effort, and labour to help them run.

Every awful thing done because Trump, and his enablers, demands it of you is still an action on your conscience, in your name, and on your soul.

May history remember you for the actions you've taken.

(As an addendum, we should also remember, and be inspired by, those who take a stand in defiance to this sort of capitulation and cooperation — people like Rachel Cohen, who has used her position of relative power and privilege in stark contrast to those who are too scared to.)
